With “NO MAP” we find Jef Mertens expanding on his prepared guitar work. Showcasing a more focused and abstract sound, while also covering new territory by collaborating with musicians he crossed paths with as a filmmaker. This time around, Jef finds himself behind the guitar as a musician with a newly found voice. A development that seems to have come full circle by merging his past and the present. As an album, NO MAP effectively marks a crossroad between where Jef started out and where his creativity is driving him .
